John McGinn will miss Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Denmark on Wednesday after contracting Covid-19.

Midfielder McGinn revealed he had tested positive for the virus but has no symptoms and is "feeling fine".

It remains unclear whether he will join the squad for Scotland's qualifiers with Moldova and Austria.

Rangers have also confirmed that right-back Nathan Patterson is self-isolating after being identified as a close contact, and he seems set to miss out.

Patterson played in the Ibrox club's Europa League tie against Alashkert on Thursday, but missed Sunday's Old Firm game.

The squad are due to report to their base on Sunday evening, with Patterson's fellow right-back Stephen O'Donnell also a doubt after he missed a second Motherwell game in a row through illness.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay and Southampton counterpart Stuart Armstrong have already been ruled out.

Steve Clarke's side play the Danes in Copenhagen on Wednesday, host Moldova on Saturday, then visit Austria three days later.

They are currently second in Group F after three games - four points behind leaders Denmark - after drawing with Austria and Israel and beating the Faroe Islands in March.
