16.8m people watch England's Euros win over Switzerland

England’s Euro 2024 quarter-final victory against Switzerland on Saturday was watched on BBC One by a peak audience of 16.8 million people.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the decisive spot-kick as England won 5-3 in the shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

There was an average audience of 13.6 million - a 77% share of all those watching TV that evening.

The match was also streamed 8.9 million times on BBC iPlayer.

There were 10.5 million visitors to the BBC Sport website throughout the day, with 5.3 million following the match online and the live page being viewed 16.6 million times throughout the game.

The highest peak audience during England's Euro 2024 campaign so far was 18.4 million for their extra-time victory against Slovakia in the last 16 on 30 June, a game shown on ITV.

England play the Netherlands in the semi-final on Wednesday at 20:00 BST, with live coverage available on BBC 5 Live, BBC Sounds and on the BBC Sport website.

The other semi-final between Spain and France will be shown on BBC One from 19:00 on Tuesday, with live coverage available on BBC iPlayer, BBC 5 Live, BBC Sounds and the BBC Sport webstie.
