Finn Allen struck an unbeaten 72 as Trent Rockets beat Manchester Super Giants by six wickets to leapfrog their opponents and move top of the Hundred table.

Chasing 138, opener Allen struck 11 fours and two sixes in his 35-ball innings, leading Rockets to victory with 13 balls remaining at Old Trafford.

Despite their modest target, Rockets did not accelerate towards it until Allen's back-to-back six and four off Josh Tongue after the 75-ball mark consolidated their position.

Ben Duckett was bowled by Gus Atkinson after two balls of the chase, attempting to ramp, while Tom Banton (10) and Tim David (4) also failed to fire.

Sam Billings was Rockets' next-highest scorer on 26, while Mitchell Santner struck an unbroken 24 including a winning four as Rockets closed on 140-4.

Jos Buttler top-scored for Super Giants with an unbeaten 55 from 37 balls to move 24 runs of the all-time T20 run-scoring record.

The home side's final partnership of 81 from 57 deliveries, with Leus du Plooy striking 40 not out from 28 balls, took them to 137-3, a total they were unable to defend.

The match started with five sides level on eight points and separated by net run-rate at the top of the standings, with second-placed Rockets now moving clear at the top by four points and Super Giants slipping to second.
