Big Evs edged a sprint finish with Asfoora to win the King George Stakes at Goodwood.

The Mick Appleby-trained horse, ridden by Tom Marquand, led from the start with Asfoora way behind.

Asfoora - winner of the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot in June - was then shaken up by jockey Oisin Murphy and powered to the line on the outside, closing the gap.

Big Evs, however, held on to avenge his defeat at Ascot, when he finished third.

"He is fantastic racehorse," Marquand told ITV.

"He has too much speed. He has so much raw boot and trying to tame that feels like there is no point.

"You don’t need to save an awful lot on a track like this for him."

Believing finished third in the race, three-quarters of a length back.

Victory for Appleby was his fourth from six runners at this year's Glorious Goodwood.
