England believe it could be "a very special week" as they chase a first Test series win in New Zealand, says captain Jamie George.

The first match of the two-Test series against the new-look All Blacks takes place on Saturday in Dunedin.

The men's team have only won two Tests in New Zealand, their last win coming in 2003.

Asked about that record by BBC Sport, George said: "It's hard because you are desperate for a win out here because we know how hard it is to do.

"What we have done really well this week is lay the foundations properly, get the understanding of what we want to do and why and then build throughout the week.

"It's been bubbling away nicely and if we apply ourselves, the way that I know that we can and the way we have this week, it could be a very special week for us."

'It is about bringing your story'

George led a player-only meeting as part of the preparations and players also shared stories about the All Blacks in camp.

They included England's New Zealand-born flanker Ethan Roots on the Haka and Ollie Lawrence on watching the British and Irish Lions as a fan on their 2017 tour of New Zealand.

"Everyone has got their own story and this is the amazing thing," George added. "When you come to a Test match, when you play for England, for me it is about bringing your story.

"All the hard work and preparation that comes into it, the background, what your family have been through. All of that emotion should come out when you play for England."

George said he "couldn't be happier" with England's training and build-up to the match.

"It's not just the conversations we have had, how clear we are on the plan, I think we have identified or educated people on what to expect from the All Blacks for the guys who haven't played against the All Blacks before," the Saracens hooker said.

"But then we have also been able to transfer it on to the field. The energy and the pace we are playing at is really exciting."

After the first Test, England and New Zealand will play again on 13 July at Eden Park in Auckland.
