Britain's Alfie Hewett is through to a 10th Wimbledon wheelchair singles quarter-final - but compatriot Gordon Reid suffered defeat in the first round.

Hewett began his bid for a second SW19 title with a 6-1 6-3 win over Tom Egberink of the Netherlands.

Hewett completed the career Grand Slam in singles with his 2024 victory at Wimbledon.

"It is a privilege to be on these courts and it is certainly something I don't take for granted each year," said the 28-year-old, who made his Wimbledon debut in 2016.

"This is the one tournament where I probably don't have the best sleep, but that's because of excitement and the experiences that I've had here.

"Wimbledon is really a standout for me. Hopefully it is even better this year."

Second seed Hewett will face Ji Zhenxu for a place in the semi-finals.
