Glasgow City eased into the Women's Champions League play-off round with an efficient 3-0 win over Lithuanian hosts Gintra.

It took City only 45 seconds to inch ahead as striker Brenna Lovera, who opened the scoring in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Shelbourne, connected with a fine near-post flick from winger Cori Sullivan's low cross.

Defender Kenzie Weir headed the second from close range from a Mairead Fulton corner and goalkeeper Adrianna Schroeder let a long-range strike from winger Lauren Davidson, who also scored against Brondby, squirm under her body to settle the game after the break.

In a grim midfield battle of few chances, A-Lyga winners Gintra rarely looked like staging a comeback, with midfielder Rachel Diodati's thundering free-kick that flew just wide from 25 yards at 2-0 their only moment of threat.

Ginta, who defeated Cardiff City 2-0 in their semi-final, were hosting one of 14 mini tournaments with the winner of each first-round section progressing to a two-legged second-round play-off for the right to reach the main group stage.

Celtic, having defeated Brondby on Wednesday, have another Scandinavian assignment against hosts Valerenga later (19:00).

The Norwegians defeated Minsk to set up their tie with Celtic.

Nils Lexerod's team, who finished as runners-up in the 2022 Toppserien, are a point clear of their domestic league, while Celtic are two points clear at the top of theirs.

Two seasons ago, Valerenga progressed to round two of qualifying but lost on aggregate to Hacken.
