Cooking up a storm: The contestants in series 15 of the Great British Bake Off

SPOILER ALERT: This article reveals who has won The Great British Bake Off 2024

After 10 weeks of battle in the kitchen, the winner of the 2024 series of The Great British Bake Off has been revealed.

The final, shown on Channel 4, was between the last three standing: Christiaan, Dylan and Georgie.

They were all that was left of the initial 12 contestants, after they baked their way through weeks devoted to cake, biscuits, bread, caramel, pastry, autumn, dessert, back to the '70s, and patisserie.

The winner was declared on Tuesday night after judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith had assessed the efforts of the group over the 10 episodes.

Victory went to Georgie Grasso, 34, from Carmarthenshire - the first Welsh winner in the show's history.

Georgie said: "This is mad.

"I have won it, I can’t believe it. This is just incredible."

The beaten finalists were Christiaan, 33, who was born in the Netherlands and moved to the UK seven years ago to work for a fashion firm in London, and Dylan, 20, from Buckinghamshire, whose mother is Indian and father Japanese-Belgian.

Georgie said her win meant everything, after having always been so self-doubting.

"I have got this and that wrong with me and think I can’t do it, and you make excuses.

"For once I thought I am just going to go for it and put my everything into it. Working all hours and I sacrificed time with the kids and the family."

She was, she said, "just so proud of myself".

"My heart is racing... and I am already feeling sad that I am not coming back here [to the show] and not seeing everyone," she said.

"The people I have met are going to be best friends for life. This is the best thing I have ever done."

In the final the bakers had to make scones, create a quintessential afternoon tea and construct a hanging tiered celebration cake.

Prue said: "Georgie did what she does best - classic British baking beautifully done, and won it and quite right too."

Paul called Georgie's cake "full of flavour and full of life".

"The Welsh wonder, Georgie, smashed it out of the park," he said.
