Illinois judge kicks Trump off primary ballot

A judge in Illinois has ruled that Donald Trump engaged in insurrection and kicked him off the state's primary ballot - though she put the decision on pause pending an appeal.

Several other states, including Colorado, have removed Mr Trump from their primary ballots for violating a 14th Amendment "insurrection" clause.

Illinois' primary election is scheduled for 19 March.

The Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling in the matter soon.

Cook county circuit judge Tracie Porter agreed with voters who argued Mr Trump has violated the US constitution's 14th Amendment because of his role in the 6 January Capitol riot.
