Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus could be out "for a few weeks" after a scan confirmed a muscle injury, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed.

However, the 26-year-old Brazil international went off after 81 minutes with a suspected hamstring injury.

Midfielder Thomas Partey is also set to be out for a similar period of time.

"The scan showed there is a muscle injury. We might lose him for a few weeks again," Arteta said of Jesus.

The Arsenal boss added: "With Gabi, I cannot give you any time frame because he always surprises us.

"But there is something there. He had quite a [high] load over the last few weeks. It's really bad news for us."

Jesus had minor knee surgery in August and missed the start of the Premier League season.

After returning to full fitness he had started in Arsenal's last four league games, and all three of the club's Champions League group matches to date, scoring four times so far this season.

Ghana international Partey, 30, missed the Sevilla match because of a muscle injury he sustained in training and will also not be available for Saturday's home league game against struggling Sheffield United.

The unbeaten Gunners, runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League last term, are third after nine matches this time - two points behind leaders Tottenham.
