Jockey Williams banned after cocaine positive test

Jockey Jordan Williams has been banned for six months after testing positive for cocaine.

Williams, 25, faced an independent disciplinary panel on Thursday following a breach of the British Horseracing Authority's (BHA) Rules of Racing.

The rules state a jockey must ensure that no banned substances are present in their body.

Williams was selected for a random drugs test at Kempton on 7 February.

The jockey provided a hair sample that showed cocaine had been ingested between December and February.

Williams admitted the breach and the independent panel issued a six-month ban, the BHA said.

His period of ineligibility was backdated to start on 11 March 2024, when his interim suspension began following the positive test result.
