West Ham celebrateWest Ham have seven points from their opening four games in the WSL this season

Manchester City lost their third successive Women's Super League match as they were stunned by visitors West Ham United to increase pressure on manager Gareth Taylor.

City failed to breakdown resilient West Ham, who went ahead late on in the first half through Dagny Brynjarsdottir's header.

West Ham made it 2-0 in stoppage time to seal the win, Yui Hasegawa capitalising on a mistake by Demi Stokes before chipping it over the goalkeeper's head from 40 yards out.

Ellen White had a goal ruled out for offside after the break for City and Laura Coombs also struck the post right at the end.

The defeat means City have won just one of their opening four games this season.

It is also back-to-back defeats at home - Spurs inflicted City's first league defeat at the Academy Stadium since April 2018 when they won 2-1 last month.

Taylor's side, runners-up in the WSL last season, now sit nine points off the pace of leaders Arsenal.

West Ham climb to fourth in the table with two wins and a draw in their opening four games.
