Paris explosion: Seven critically injured after blast

A number of people are in a critical condition following an explosion in central Paris.

Sixteen people have been injured, with seven in a critical condition, police say, following the blast in Rue Saint-Jacques in the fifth arrondissement of the French capital.

The facade of one building has fallen on to the street and several buildings have caught fire.

Numerous police forces and firefighters are on the scene.
