Peru anti-government protest grips capital Lima

Thousands of demonstrators marched through Lima demanding that left-wing Peruvian President Pedro Castillo resign.

Police armed with shields and batons fired tear gas during scuffles with demonstrators.

Mr Castillo took office in July last year and his government is under investigation for alleged corruption. He denies wrongdoing.
