Batter Paige Scholfield has been withdrawn from England's T20 squad for their tour of South Africa because of an ankle injury.
England said the 28-year-old was injured during a training session on Tuesday.
"Following further assessment, she will now return to the UK to begin her rehabilitation," the team said.
Scholfield was a surprise selection in the T20 squad ahead of Alice Capsey as England made changes after a group-stage exit from October's T20 World Cup.
She made her ODI and T20 debuts against Ireland in September and also featured for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred this year.
Capsey, meanwhile, was recalled to the T20 squad on Monday "due to a couple of minor injury concerns within the squad".
England will play the first of the three T20s against South Africa on Sunday. The tour also includes three ODIs and a four-day Test.
