Owen Glass, a 10-year-old from the remote island of Tristan da Cunha, is believed to be the youngest to give an official speech in the House of Commons.

The schoolboy spoke at the UK Youth Parliament's annual debate in the House of Commons on Friday, telling Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) about the benefits and challenges of living in a remote community and his hopes of becoming an engineer.

"We face challenges, but we find ways to overcome them," Mr Glass said.

Tristan da Cunha is located in the Atlantic Ocean, midway between South America and Africa, and is home to about 250 people.

The UK Youth Parliament, run by the National Youth Agency, was set up to give young people a voice in Parliament and holds a yearly debate in the Commons.
