Sheffield United have sacked boss Slavisa Jokanovic and appointed Paul Heckingbottom as his replacement on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
Heckingbottom, 44, ended last season in caretaker charge as they were relegated from the Premier League before Jokanovic took over in May.
The 53-year-old Serb won just six of his 19 leagues games in charge.
Sheffield United, who host Bristol City on Sunday, are eight points off the Championship play-off places.

Wow, sacking a manager who has experience of a shaky start & then improves them in the 2nd half of the season, (Fulham & Watford previous reference) & replacing him with a novice… Why do I get the feeling that another owner will holding the club back from progression due to abysmal football related decisions… 🙄

Don't think we'll be seeing Sheffield Utd back in the premier league anytime soon.

What’s going on with football management recruitment at the minute? First Nuno at Tottenham and now Man United’s strange method of desiring an interim manager rather than hiring a permanent one now.
Heckingbottom could have been given the gig earlier but no - let’s waste a load of cash on a new guy and pay him off before Christmas.
Bizarre.

Four and a half year deal? No wonder most Championship clubs are in financial dire straights!
