Carol Vorderman has said she would stand as an independent candidate if she decided to pursue a career in politics
Broadcaster Carol Vorderman has said she "wouldn't say no" to standing as an MP.
During an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain, she was asked whether she would ever consider standing as a politician.
The former BBC Radio Wales presenter, who was born in Prestatyn, replied: "I've been asked so many times. I wouldn't say no now. I'd be an independent."
It followed stricter impartiality rules being put in place for the hosts of selected "flagship programmes" such as Match of the Day, Strictly Come Dancing and The Apprentice.
Vorderman's radio show was not on the "flagship" list and the issue with her posts was to do with civility, rather than impartiality.
At the time, she said she was not "prepared to lose my voice on social media" and managers "have decided I must leave".

In 2023, Carol Vorderman left her weekly show on BBC Radio Wales after breaking BBC guidelines
The celebrity, who has previously said she has a home in Pembrokeshire and in Bristol, made her name as the maths expert on Channel 4's Countdown.
After stepping down from her BBC show, Vorderman joined LBC but left in October 2024.
Vorderman's comments come ahead of this year's Senedd election on 7 May.
