UK economy hit by extra bank holiday in May

The UK economy shrank by 0.1% in May, partly down to the extra bank holiday for the King's Coronation.

This followed growth of 0.2% in April, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

Activity in the manufacturing, energy and construction sectors fell in May, as some industries were hit by there being one fewer working day than normal.

Pubs and bars also saw sales fall after a strong April.
