Alex Yee heads to this weekend's World Triathlon Championship Finals as favourite for the men's title, while fellow Briton Beth Potter is in contention to defend her women's title, and you can watch them live on the BBC.

Victory in last month's penultimate event in China lifted Yee to the top of the standings before the finale in Andalucia on 19-20 October.

The 26-year-old is unbeaten in 2024 following wins at the Europe Triathlon Cup in Kitzbuhel, gold at the Olympics in Paris and victories at the World Triathlon Championship Series events in Cagliari and Weihai.

Yee has 3,000 points, with second-placed Leo Bergere of France on 2,572.08 and New Zealand's Hayden Wilde third on 2,476.40. The Briton will win the title if he finishes in the top six in Torremolinos on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the women's title race is shaping up for a thrilling climax on Saturday with both Potter and Germany's Lisa Tertsch in with a chance of overhauling current race leader Cassandre Beaugrand of France after Tertsch took the win in China and Potter came second.

Beaugrand's 2,750 points from her wins in Cagliari, Hamburg and Paris mark her out as favourite to take the title but Potter (2,636.26 points) will still have designs of retaining her world title. Tertsch is on 2,618.75 points.

Race winners at the finals get 1,250 points - an increase on the 1,000 they pick up at other races in the series - and they pocket $30,000 (£23,000). The overall series champion wins $70,000 (£54,000).
