Great Britain's Heather Watson and Joe Salisbury booked their place in the last 16 of the mixed doubles on another rain-affected day at Wimbledon.

Watson and Salisbury clinched a 5-7 6-3 10-8 victory over Belgium's Sander Gille and Nadiia Kichenok of Ukraine in a match held over from Monday.

The British duo had resumed the contest a set down but 5-3 up in the second and they quickly closed out the set to get themselves back on level terms.

Watson and Salisbury, who will team up at the Olympic Games in Paris later this month, then came out on top in a gruelling decider to clinch a meeting with Poland's Jan Zielinski and Su-Wei Hsieh of Taiwan.

Fellow Britons Charles Broom and Emily Appleton were knocked out after a 6-4 7-6 (7-3) first-round defeat to Mate Pavic of Croatia and Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine.

The mixed doubles final was meant to be played on Thursday but has been put back to Sunday due to a backlog of matches after a decision by Wimbledon bosses to revise the schedule.
