What is the 1922 Committee and what powers does it have?

Dubbed 'the men in grey suits' the members of the 1922 Committee wield a lot of power in the Conservative party.

They run the selection process for new leaders. And if MP's want to get rid of their current leader, then it's 'The 1922' who collect the votes to do so.
