Retail chain Wilko is expected to disappear from UK High Streets after a rescue bid from the billionaire owner of HMV failed.

Doug Putman planned to keep up to 300 Wilko shops open, but his bid failed over rising costs.

It leaves the future of more than 10,000 workers uncertain.

Administrators are expected to announce job losses and store closures soon. Some of Wilko's remaining stores could be sold to rival retailers.
