Canadian climber Michael Woods timed his ride to perfection to claim his first stage win on the Tour de France.
Matteo Jorgenson led 47km from the stage-nine finish and was more than a minute clear as he began the climb up the dormant volcano of Puy de Dome.
But the American was caught by Israel Start-Up Nation rider Woods less than 500m from the iconic summit finish.
Jorgenson was then also passed by Pierre Latour and Matej Mohoric in the last few metres before the line.
More to follow.

And chapeau to Matteo Jorgenson, it takes guts to go 50km from the finish, when you know the Puy de Dôme is waiting for you. No guts no glory, as they say, but mostly, even with guts, there’s no glory. But the prix combativité is yours I hope.
