Daniel Ricciardo says he is expecting an answer on his Formula 1 future after this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix.

The Australian is in competition with reserve driver Liam Lawson for a seat at Red Bull’s RB team alongside Japanese Yuki Tsunoda in 2025.

And there is speculation that Red Bull may choose to drop Ricciardo for Lawson in time for the next race.

Ricciardo said: “I do expect a yes or a no for '25. And then I'm aware of some talk and speculation about the rest of the season, but that, at the moment, I'm unaware of.

“The decision I expect is for next year. But obviously, crazy things have happened in this sport, so I'm also not gonna stand here too confident that, ‘oh yeah, yeah, yeah’.

“I believe I will be [on the grid] but let’s see.”

Ricciardo’s former Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen said the 35-year-old could look back on his career with pride if he was dropped by Red Bull.

Verstappen said: “Daniel is a great guy. He has proven himself as a great Formula 1 driver. He's a friend of mine.

"Always being in this kind of position is never nice. But at the other end also, I don't think he has to feel sorry for himself.

“Sometimes things maybe don't work out the way you want them in certain stages of your career, but you still have achieved a lot more than anyone could ever dream of in their lives.

“So even if this is, let's say, the last race or whatever, you can still look back at something amazing that not many people can achieve and do something else maybe in life also.”
